17/10/2022 Carrick Hill reveals new plans for visitors centre
Carrick Hill is a significant South Australian cultural tourism attraction. It comprises a major heritage building, being the previous home of Sir Edward and Lady Ursula Hayward; internationally significant art collections; original subsidiary buildings such as stables; and approximately 40 hectares of land which includes approximately 26 hectares of native bushland.
On 14 October, the final design for the exciting new $6.7 million Carrick Hill Visitors Centre Pavilion was revealed. Set to commence construction early next year, the project will deliver a multi-purpose pavilion to provide improved visitor services and amenities for international, national and local patrons.
The pavilion will offer a function area with flexibility to host intimate or larger-scale events, enabling the beloved venue to increase its commercial offering, while additional car parking will meet anticipated increased visitor numbers.
The local and broader community will also benefit through improved facilities and access to recreational walks. The development will bring increased opportunities for volunteer involvement across the various activities on site as well.
In this segment, hear from Peter Kennedy, Chairman Carrick Hill Trust, and Susan McCormack, Director Carrick Hill Trust, about the project.
The project is funded by the Australian Government and State Government as part of the $699 million Adelaide City Deal. The Carrick Hill Development Foundation Incorporated also provided $3.2 million through their fundraising and donation network.
