December 15th, 2007 started out like any other day for Leah Hickman, a junior at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. She went shopping for Christmas presents with her sister, Jessica, talked on the phone with a friend and made a stop at the nearby McDonald's. She then set about doing her laundry and packing to go home for break, and was never heard from again after about 6 pm. Her body was found in a crawlspace in the basement of her apartment building one week later.
One year before, in July of 2006, a mother of three named Melanie Metheny dropped off her kids at a daycare and set about to run some errands in nearby Kanawha County, West Virginia. Around 9:30 or 10 am she too disappeared. Her body was never found but her van was, scrubbed clean and abandoned in a a bad part of town.
What happened to these West Virginia women so many years ago? And will their disappearances and murders ever be solved?
