The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida penned by Srilankan author, Shehan Karunatilaka, made him bag the Booker Prize, 2022. The delightful announcement was made on October 17, 2022, in a ceremony held in London. Thus, making him the second Sri Lankan-born author to take this prestigious award home. His novel as described in the ceremony, as "a searing, mordantly funny satire set amid the murderous mayhem of a Sri Lanka beset by civil war." The author was awarded this award, as our neighbouring healed from soaring prices of commodities that lead to a civil uprising.
