Decline of Democracy Pt 2 The Last Ten of Twenty Signs that Democracy in America is Dying
In the last podcast we discussed the first ten of the twenty signs that democracy in America is dying. In this podcast we shall discuss the last ten. The list is not definitive, but it is revealing, and these twenty are sufficient to bring down our democratic republic. If we do not return to the Ten Commandments, the true law of liberty, we are doomed to go the way of other nations that have fallen from world leadership. Over two hundred years ago De Tocqueville warned that “America is great because she is good. If America ceases to be good, she will cease to be great.”
1. Loss of States Rights
States that oppose the left feel the heavy hand of Washington. If the moral values of the states are contrary to the amoral values of those in power, federal funds are withheld, burdensome lawsuits drag them into courts, and persecutions persist on every level. States are not allowed to protect their borders, to recognize natural gender differences, or to protect their values. Until Roe vs Wade was overturned as unconstitutional, states weren’t even allowed to determine the legality of abortion. The purpose of states’ rights is to give more power to the people, making individual votes in their own community count, thus protecting them from values established in more populated states. Without states’ rights there is no democratic republic. Those who unconstitutionally pushed Roe vs. Wade wanted power over all dissenting states. Centralized power is a form of totalitarianism. The number of congressmen is determined by the number of people in a state; the number of senators, however, is limited to two per state regardless of the population. That was to prevent larger states from overpowering the wishes of smaller states. If we destroy the balance of power, we destroy American democracy. Roe vs Wade gave the Supreme Court power that violated the Constitution which was a direct attack against the balance of power. The further you move away from the rights of the individual the closer to a totalitarian state you become. All efforts to destroy the balance of power should be defeated. When states’ rights cease to exist, American democracy ceases to exist.
2. Loss of Freedom of Speech.
Political correctness ties men’s tongues. Penalties are attached against those who take a moral stand. Free opinions cannot be expressed. Sin can no longer be called sin. Persons can be fined for being politically incorrect. The social media such as Facebook and Twitter violated freedom of speech when they censored a president of the United States or people with dissenting views. Freedom of speech is lost when the government determines which terms are correct and which terms are incorrect. Euphemism has become a plague of our nation. Controlling speech is a form of mind control. When you control speech, you control thinking. To control the tongue is to bind the mind. When President Biden’s Department of Homeland Security launched the “Disinformation Governance Board to combat “misinformation.” It was immediately dubbed the “Ministry of Truth” a term from Orwell’s 1984 because its true purpose was to distort truth. The Obama Administration spent millions of dollars changing the language of government documents, particularly censoring words which referred to terrorist acts. They preferred terms such as “workplace violence.”
