The Capitals drop 4 in row and are trying desperately to get back into the win column. The schedule doesn't get any easier as they face the Edmonton Oilers on Monday.
Alex Ovechkin made history by passing Gordie Howe for the most goal on one team. Alex Ovechkin scores on the power play to give the Capitals a 1-0 lead. It marks Ovechkin's 787th career goal, moving him past Gordie Howe (786 goals with the Detroit Re Wings) for the most goals scored by a player with a single franchise.
Ovechkin is now 13 goals away from 800, 15 from passing Howe for second on the NHL’s all-time goals list and 108 from breaking Gretzky’s all-time scoring record of 894 goals.
With the goal, Ovechkin also passes Adam Oates (1,420) for the 19th-most points in NHL history.
Ovechkin has now scored the first goal of a game 132 times, which marks the second-most game-opening goals in NHL history (Jaromir Jagr: 135).
