Throughout the year, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions.
The Ohio State Buckeyes women's basketball team set a high bar when scheduling their season tip-off. Head coach Kevin McGuff and the Scarlet & Gray faced a No. 5 ranked Tennessee Volunteers side featuring three players who are in the conversation for Naismith Player of the Year.
What happened was a game of two halves, with the Buckeyes trying to hang in with the SEC side in the first half, but going on an 18-point run in their 87-75 victory.
After the game, guard Taylor Mikesell, forward Cotie McMahon and Coach McGuff spoke with the media. Uncut shares everything they said following the big win.
Mikesell discusses how it was defense that kept the team in the game, and how special it felt having fan support culminating in students in attendance storming the court following the final buzzer.
McMahon talks about getting over the nerves in her first NCAA game, the officiating she believes Ohio State receives and how the seniors and more experienced players worked with her to help make Tuesday's win possible.
Also, McGuff discusses poor shooting, the defense that kept them in the game, the special talent of Jacy Sheldon's defense on the night and looking ahead to Boston College on Sunday.
