Trauma, Betrayal & PTSD - Michael Sugrue - 456
Michael Sugrue joined us way back in episode 36 to share his personal story around the trauma and mental health roller coaster ride he experienced around a major incident in his law enforcement career. In this previous episode Michael recounted in vivid detail the moment he fired his weapon and took a human life... the moment he had to do so, in order to save the innocent lives of many. The incident earned him Walnut Creek PD Distinguished Service Medal in 2014, yet not without years of controversy and administrative betrayal.
Today we talk about these more recent years of recovery, healing and diving even deeper beyond those triggering trauma experiences to find what else lay beneath from childhood. Michael has co-authored a book with a psychologist, proving to be a cathartic process and one which has become a valuable resource for anyone looking to learn life again in harmony with PTSI.
