Episode 38: The hidden son of a Catholic priest; when pain from religion leads to hope in Jesus Christ with Christian Cordova
Thanks for joining us for this week's episode of The Stories Collective! This week's story is unlike any other we've heard - we really think a movie should be made about this guest's life! We are talking with our friend and ministry partner Christian Cordova. Christian has been attending Desert Springs for a little over a year but very quickly became a big part of our church as he translates our 9:30am service each week into Spanish. We get to hear about Christian's passion for multicultural ministry in this episode which is great! But even greater than that Christian shares with us his life story and how his unique circumstances brought him to know Jesus as his Savior. Christian was born in Quito-Ecuador which is where he lived for the first 20 years of his life. He was raised by a single mom and his existence was hidden to protect the identity of his father who was a Catholic priest in their community. Living in this secret largely impacted Christian's life and especially influenced how he viewed God and religion. He struggled to understand God as a Father when his relationship with his earthly father was so painfully complicated. After high school in December of 1999 Christian moved to the United States where he developed a passion for learning and academics. Christian made a friend in college that eventually became a major part of leading him to the true Jesus. His identity became rooted in his Heavenly Father who saw and loved Christian from the very beginning. This story is truly amazing (that is an understatement), and we would love for you to hear this incredible testimony of God's faithfulness.
