Fierce Self-Compassion | Dr. Kristin Neff - 461
Do you ever struggle to feel like you're 'enough'? Do you believe you are 'worthy' of love? Are you forgiving of your shortcomings?
Would you treat or speak to a friend the way you speak to and treat yourself? Yeah, I think not hey. Self-compassion is the art of turning compassion inward. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that it is no easy feat.
Dr. Kristin Neff is someone I have been waiting for the opportunity to speak to for a while now. She is a pioneer in the study of self-compassion, being the first one to operationally define and measure the construct almost twenty years ago and has been recognized as one of the world's most influential research psychologists.
From practitioner to researcher, and researcher to educator, author and downright guru, there is no one I wanted to speak to more in terms of helping me get some clarity around how we use this elusive construct to heal and strengthen our relationships with 'us' and our identity.
Fierce self-compassion, tender self-compassion, self-esteem, identity, toxic environments/people, positive affirmations... How do we navigate it all?
This is an episode I hope we all listen to a couple of times over. x
