This week on #TubtaNabadda, we highlight the situation of Somali communities that are often discriminated against when accessing education, social services and political participation.
Today’s programme marks the International Day of Tolerance, observed on 16 November to help foster mutual understanding among cultures and peoples.
Last week, Yusuf Abdi Lare, Director General of the Livelihood Relief and Development Organisation (LRDO); Faiza Amin Bolay, Human Rights Director of the Somali National Women Association; and Lul Abdullahi Maow, a youth advocate in Benadir Region, took part in a TV discussion about the situation of communities that are often referred to as ‘marginalised’ or ‘minorities.’
We bring you their voices in today’s episode.
We also interviewed Naima Ali Abdirahman, a lecturer at Baidoa International University, about the best ways to end the various forms of discrimination.
The programme is presented in Somali by Ali Gutale and Fathi Mohamed.
Share your observations on how your community supports members of marginalised or minority groups. Call in your favourite radio station during the show today.
