前面的节目，我们聊过了西方人最常用的5种招聘网站与APP，我们接下来聊聊西方人找工作的flow（流程）。

1. 前期准备

(1) 首先，要写一份resume（简历）。

你的简历就是a list（一份清单） of all your accomplishments（个人成就）, education, experience, awards（荣誉）, volunteer hours（志愿时长） and qualifications（资格证书）。

在简历中，列出你的价值点，这就能告诉用人单位why you are qualified for the position（为什么你能胜任这个职位）。

还要写一封 Cover Letter（附函），用几段话解释一下what position you are applying for（你要申请什么职位），以及why you should be considered for the position（为什么你适合这个职位），就像是convincing them they should consider you（说服对方一定要考虑一下你）。

(2) 之后，you must look on job boards（浏览招聘信息）。

寻求工作岗位的时候，要确保you are qualified and able to do the job（你能胜任这份工作），并且it pays what you want（薪资符合你的期望值）。

办公地点，以及办公方式也很重要。疫情让办公方式固定成了三种：in-person,remote（远程办公/网上办公），以及hybrid（两种方式混合）。

(3) Be patient and wait. 耐心等待。

After you submit your resume and cover letter（提交简历及附函后）, you must be patient and wait.

除了被动等待，你也可以email the employer introducing yourself （向用人单位发邮件介绍自己），并且告诉他们you are eager to hear back from them（你渴望得到对方回复）。

总之，就是用合理的方式，大胆地去跟用人单位联系。其实一个为自己想要的岗位而积极努力的人，一定会增加印象分的。This helps them notice you and keep you in their mind.

2. Get an interview. 面试

面试的时候，首先要注意着装，dress nicely for the interview（要穿着得体）。

你可以是in business casual（商务休闲风），或者是 something professional（穿着很职业）。

接下来，我们看一看some common interview questions（欧美国家面试时常问的问题）。

用人单位可能会问的问题：

l Why are you interested in working for this company?

你为什么想来我们公司工作？

面试官比较期望的答案有：

I believe in this company's mission.我相信你们公司的使命。

I am excited for the opportunity, it will give me something that praises what the company does.我对这个机会感到兴奋，它会给我一些赞扬公司所做的事情的东西（也就是说，能获得成就感）。

对于我们一席来说：

如果一个年轻人说：我来一席，是因为我看到一席是一个有社会责任感的组织，我想通过一席，为国家和社会尽我个人的责任。那么这个年轻人会成功引起我们的注意。

l What is a strength and a weakness you have? 你的优缺点是什么？

没有必要太讲究技巧，真诚地回答就可以了，这样也能帮助用人单位给你安排更加合适你的岗位。

l What does your ideal work environment look like? 你理想中的工作环境是什么？

l Tell me about a time you worked on a team. 讲一次你团队合作的经历（主要是想要看你的团队合作能力）。

l How do you respond to conflict? 如何应对冲突？

如果你不明白对方的conflict是指什么，可以问清楚之后再回答：What conflict are you referring to? （您说的conflict是指什么呢？能举个例子吗？)

求职者会提问的问题：

求职的时候，you should also have a few questions prepared to ask them（提前准备好几个你关心的问题），this shows that you are interested and engaged（这表明你很感兴趣，并且有参与感）。面试本身就是双向选择。

西方人去应聘会提问的问题：

l What does a typical day at this job look like? 这个工作一天都是什么样的，都做什么？

l Who would be your ideal candidate? 你们想要什么样的应聘者？

l What is something in your organization you are trying to improve or change now?目前你们组织中，你们在努力改进和想改变的是什么。如果此时，你听到你能贡献力量的方面，可以说：我愿意帮助你们做这些。这样一份沉甸甸的诚意，一定能够打动很多面试官的。

欧美国家还特别看重reference letter（推荐信），他们通过这封推荐信，就可以知道why you would make a good candidate（为什么你会成为一个好的应聘者）。

那什么样的candidate一般能够面试成功呢？

v Someone that is qualified. 能胜任岗位的。

v Someone with a decent educational background. 教育背景相当的。

v Someone who is prepared（准备充分）, on time（守时）, and has a general understanding of the position and company（对所面试的岗位与公司做过了解的）。

总之呢，面试的过程会有很多客观的条件作为框框，但是很多时候，又是事在人为。像下面的条件，是面试的加分项：

v Someone that has good interview answers. 面试中回答很好。

v Someone that has had experience in a similar field. 在类似领域有经验。

v Someone with good letters of reference. 有良好的推荐信。
