Shrayana Bhattacharya | Author of 'Desperately Seeking Shah Rukh'
On today's episode of Cyrus Says, we are joined by Shrayana Bhattacharya, Author of 'Desperately Seeking Shah Rukh : India's Lonely Young Women and the Search for Intimacy and Independence'. Cyrus rants about Imran Khan being in Russia, is he there to sort the situation out or just a normal visit? Shrayana joins Cyrus from Delhi to talk about her new book, her fangirling of Shahrukh Khan, the many wrong versions and pronounciations of her name, and more. They also talk about whether the book is based on 'Desperately seeking Suzanne', Shrayana going to Delhi University and later joining Harvard. They discuss the premise of the book, talking to a lot of women during the research for this book, how Indian women see SRK in comparison to his contemporaries, and a ton more. Shrayana also tells us about a survey that she conducted and realising that many many women were mad Shah Rukh Khan fans just like her, why there is a need for regulations for women in various industries, why most of the women in her book don't know what the word feminist means, and Shrayan throws some shocking statistics that'll leave your mind aghast. Tune in for this and much more.
