A Story With No Ending: The Death of Nikole Bakoles
Nikole “Niki” Bakoles was twenty years old when she disappeared after an argument with her boyfriend.
Less than a year later, parts of her body were found in the Great Salt Lake—but no one knew it was her.
Dubbed “Saltair Sally” by the public, Niki was considered a Jane Doe for twelve full years with no hope of her identity ever being uncovered.
Despite pushback from police, her mother insisted that the remains belonged to her daughter—and when they finally tested them, she was right.
Leaving behind only her young child, the end to Niki’s story remains a mystery to this day.
