On today's episode of In Stride, Sinead talks to Dan Kreitl about his rise to amateur stardom in the U.S. eventing community following his recent top finishes at the 4* level and the path he took to get to where he is today.
Dan Kreitl is an amateur rider that has had a meteoric rise in 2022 with several competitive finishes at the 4* level in eventing. He’s a “hometown hero” for amateur riders around the U.S. as he manages to compete at the upper levels while also working a full time job and being a parent.
Growing up, Dan was the 9th of 10 kids in his family, and he was the only one interested in horses. Dan talks about how his entrepreneurial spirit started when he was in middle school and resulted in him starting several companies over the years. Dan has faced immense adversity in the last year as his wife received a scary diagnosis while pregnant. This experience has taught Dan a lot about training his mind and controlling his emotions. Dan talks about the decision to not pursue riding professionally and ride as an amateur while working outside of horses instead.
