158. Tyler Lansing Weaks, Broadway's Take Me Out
Actor of stage and screen Tyler Lansing Weaks joins us to talk about his role in the Tony Award-winning revival of “Take Me Out”, currently on Broadway. The production was meant to premiere in March 2020, but due to the pandemic, they were forced to go on an indefinite hiatus, eventually returning in 2022, and going on to win two Tony Awards.
Tyler shares how he stayed busy during the pandemic, and what it felt like to finally return to the role in 2022, the challenges he overcame and lessons learned while playing the vulnerable yet rather hilarious character Jason Chenier, and also advises that young actors need to have interests and an identity disconnected from acting, saying “it’s really easy to lose yourself. You [can] feel you don’t exist outside of the roles you’re playing.”
Take Me Out is in performances until February 5th at the Schoenfeld Theatre in New York City.
