The BEST scenario for LSU football in 2023 | QB Jayden Daniels forgoes NFL Draft, returns to LSU
LSU Tigers starting quarterback Jayden Daniels announced that he will forego the 2023 NFL Draft and return to play for the Tigers next season for his second year at LSU and under Brian Kelly. Daniels completed nearly 69 percent of his passes in his first year with LSU, accounting for 2,774 passing yards, 16 passing touchdowns to just three interceptions and adding a program-high 818 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Daniels was responsible for almost 63 percent of the Tigers' total offense.
So now that Daniels has made his decision for next season, what will be backup QB Garrett Nussmeiers decision for next season? Nussmeier came in the SEC Championship against Georgia when Daniels exited with an ankle injury and showed off his mobility and big arm throwing for 294 yards on 15 completions and adding two touchdowns to just one interception. Will "gunslinger" stick around for one more year of development as the backup, or will he enter the transfer portal to find a starting opportunity elsewhere?
