An unnamed narrator wears different skins to navigate different parts of her life: academia, her wealthy boyfriend's social circle, and her family's rigid dynamic that she seeks to escape. But her mutable presentation brings conditional acceptance at best, dependent as it is on external perception. “Skin” by Isha Karki explores code-switching and the authenticity trap.
