2023 Risks & Rewards “Weekly Market Outlook January 3rd-6th”
Joe Vaclavik with Standard Grain talks with Chris as we head into a New Year!
The conversation begins with a review of 2022. There were a number of market drivers that Joe discusses, including inflation, the war in Ukraine, drought in the west, energy prices, and rising interest rates.
Joe transitions into some of the opportunities and challenges that we will see as we head into 2023 both short-term and long-term.
Short term, conversation revolves around paying attention to South American weather, the Russia, Ukraine war, and the January USDA report. From a long-term perspective, we still have drought in many areas, continued interest rate hikes potentially, and acreage decision making with corn still showing much larger profit opportunities than soybeans for most producers currently.
