Paul continues with his advice for the church congregation in Colossae. He warns them to beware of false teachers. Excerpts from his letter mentioned in today's class: True Knowledge comes through Christ. I say this in order that no one may delude you with plausible arguments. By 'this' he means the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Jesus Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. *** The region around Colossae is the birthplace of Greek philosophers who began with theories about what the world was made of. Paul responds to them when he says: See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.
