Episode 0200 - America Would be Better with Socialism Like Sweeden, Right?
There's a growing interest among our fellow citizens in transitioning the U.S. to socialism. As many as 4 in 10 believe this would be a more equitable and fair system. In a world of scarce resources, it is critical that we have some mechanism for deciding who gets what in civil society or it won't be civil for long. At its core, this is the discussion between capitalism and socialism. Some see the government as a benevolent arbiter of who gets what, but governments are inherently political and corrupt and often pay tribute to those that help to solidify power. There is nothing fair or equitable about a system that allocates resources in this manner. Everywhere this system has been tried, it has ended in abject failure and ruin of human flourishing. Join me today as we play excerpts from a John Stossel program that relies on Sweeden as the favorite example of the Democratic Socialist.
