On October 1st, 1910, brothers John and James McNamara used dynamite to blow up the Los Angeles Times building in response to the newspaper's anti-union stance. The explosion and resulting fire killed 21 and injured another 100. It was just one of the many crimes during this era dubbed "the crime of the century."
