How Christians Should Respond to the Depravity Revolution – Part 1
GUEST: ANDREW DeBARTOLO, Director of Operations, Liberty Coalition Canada
From the beginning, men and women have always resisted God’s design for marriage, sex, and gender.
God designed marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman…and man soon took multiple wives. God designed sex for procreation and unity within one man one woman marriage…and man soon engaged in prostitution, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, and other reprobation. God created each person either male or female…and man soon desired and dressed to be the opposite.
Pre- and extra-marital sex, unbiblical divorce, and abortion were early signs that God’s moral design was being jettisoned in our nation, but now, as Romans 1 describes, a full-blown depravity revolution is rushing headlong toward a zenith. That which Scripture describes as “unnatural” (Romans 1)—homosexuality—has become mainstreamed legally and culturally. Now the same can be said for transgenderism. Only the desperately wicked heart of man knows where he/she will next seek sinful pleasure apart from God.
Christians and the church are necessarily caught in the whirlwind of the depravity revolution. We can’t affirm what the Bible clearly calls sin. We love sinners enough to tell them “the wages of sin is death”. We live and work and educate in a system that has chosen the side of God-rejection and persecutes and prosecutes those who don’t “comply”.
Why has the depravity revolution become so prominent? Can’t Christians just “stay out of the way”? If not, how should Christians respond to open promotion of it everywhere—from government leaders, in schools, at “drag shows”, with laws, even in churches?
Andrew DeBartolo, is a teaching elder at Encounter Church in Ontario and director of operations at Liberty Coalition Canada. He joins us this weekend and next to answer this question and more so Christians and the church are informed and prepared.
