Leisure - A Life Changing Poem by William Henry Davies | Read by Simerjeet Singh
Our next piece in the Poetry That Inspires series is titled "Leisure" by William Henry Davies.
This poem is a beautiful reminder of the importance of appreciating the small things in life. It inspires us to stop and reflect on the present moment to enjoy it fully – a feat hard to accomplish in our hyperconnected, hypercompetitive modern world.
Or in the poet’s own words – “A poor life this if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare.”
Remember – There is no glory in burnout. And Redbull does not give you wings ;)
Hope you all have a great week ahead.

Leisure
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty’s glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
