"The best way to lead others is to be able to lead yourself effectively. And next level leadership is understanding yourself and the other person at the same time."
We all love the perks of leading a team. But there's a catch.
Each group we’re a part of is comprised of a diverse range of Enneagram types, each with their own instinctual response to life.
And that's great because each Enneagram type brings its unique skills to the table, meshing to create a successful team.
But it's not without its downside. Some polarity exists within every team. Others may not always get what you bring to the table. Depending on your Enneagram Type (and theirs), they may misconstrue your motivation or misinterpret your communication style causing them to miss the heart in what you say.
Plus, we all have our own level of self-awareness, which can lead to misunderstandings and even reckless words that activate our fear response, and cause breakdowns even in the most successful teams.
So how can we learn to recognize how our energy might be received before we ever walk into a room?
Today, I'm walking through how you can minimize (and leverage) the triggers that show up in leadership using the Enneagram for you and each Enneagram type on every team in your life.
I'll discuss why it’s vital to understand not only who is on your team but also their biggest fears and what might set them off based on their Type, and the triad that they filter their experiences through. Listen in as I share how you can use your Enneagram type and your own self-knowledge to catch your reactions (positive and negative) in every moment so you can be a more successful leader.
I'll walk you through a behind-the-scenes story of how I avoided a (type 8) trigger during a recent Enneagram group training session and the outcome for the entire team involved.
Plus, I'll share a self-awareness practice you can use when you feel triggered to respond effectively to turn the situation a win-win for everyone.
Do you lead a team? You DO, even if it's just in your own home. I'd love to work with you to help you become a more effective AND compassionate leader. Find out more at Tracy O'Malley.com in the work with me section.
