Narcissists Feed Off Codependents With The "Emotional Umbilical Cord"
In this video, Ross Rosenberg, M.Ed., LCPC, CADC, uses the analogy of the "emotional umbilical cord," which explains how pathological narcissists, especially covert narcissists, feed off their codependent/Self-Love Deficient (SLD) partners. By consuming all of the love, care, respect, trust, and sometimes money and other resources, the SLD becomes drained while the narcissist continues to thrive, as the SLD gives away all that they would otherwise keep for themselves to contribute to their own happiness and well-being.
