Season 4 Podcast 12 “Profitable Poverty”
Little by little our freedoms are being stolen from us, each in the guise of a good cause, but isn't it odd how the one who robs from the rich to give to the poor is often the primary benefactor? Somehow money to the poor turns into power to the politicians and all by sleight of hand, like a magician.
I remember sitting in an American fast-food restaurant on CMH Road in Bangalore, India, overlooking a busy crossroads. I saw a teenage beggar girl dressed in dirty, brown, tattered clothing, hobbling on a cane going from car to car. I could see her foot even from my second story window which she kept clearly visible. It was deformed. For obvious reasons, beggars often prominently display their deformities.
Many are reduced to begging because all other resources have been exhausted. We are all familiar with the Biblical quote, “For God loveth a cheerful giver.” God condemns those who do not help the poor. A country that does not address poverty is a heartless country indeed, but there is a reality to everything, even begging. A country that does not use wisdom in welfare is easily exploited and will soon itself become a beggar. We make begging more profitable than working.
Such is the case in America today on an obscene scale. If one asked who benefits most from poverty in America it is the socialist element of the Democratic party. That is why we are now on a slippery slope toward socialism. We are abandoning the principle of self-reliance. President Obama said in his Commencement Speech at Ohio State:
To care for the sick and the vulnerable, and provide a basic level of protection from falling into abject poverty in the wealthiest nation on Earth.
Those are wonderful words until they get translated into action. Obamacare, which is socialized medicine, moved our nation a giant step into socialism. Its purpose is redistribution of wealth. It is called affordable health care because it is free for those who don’t work and extremely costly for those who do. Its purpose is to make people dependent upon the government. Regardless of what it is called, socialism leans, by necessity, toward totalitarianism, or it cannot work. A Democratic Republic can only operate under the principle of personal accountability and self-reliance.
The left openly uses taxpayer dollars to bribe the poor for votes. The most blatant example is President Biden’s promise to college students while campaigning that he would forgive all student debts which is just another form of redistribution of wealth. As Mr. Obama said, “I actually believe in redistribution of wealth.” President Biden wanted the student vote and he got through open bribery. Paying the students personal debts with government funds was unconstitutional but that was irrelevant once the election was over.
Regardless of what excuse or cause the government uses to collect our taxes, once the taxes are paid to the government the taxpayers have no control over how the money is spent, and many of us wonder how much control Congress has over the money spent. Do we really know the full truth about President Obama’s $150 Billion Iran muclear deal as well as the $1.8 billion in cash. President Trump reported,
“Iran’s hostilities substantially increased after the foolish Iran nuclear deal was signed in 2013 and they were given $150 billion, not to mention $1.8 billion in cash. … Then, Iran went on a terror spree, funded by the money from the deal and created hell in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Iraq. The missiles fired last night at us and our allies were paid for with the funds made available by the last administration.”
In a true democracy, every penny collected for taxes should be accounted for to the taxpayers.
