Planned giving, legacy gifts, and bequests have the potential to sustain a nonprofit and promise future funding. There’s more good news. A successful planned giving program converts donors to major gift donors, positively impacts annual giving, deepens donor relationships, drives peer-to-peer support communities, and strengthens long-term financial stability. But foreboding may prevent nonprofits from implementing a planned giving program.
According to The Fundraising Authority, almost everyone has the ability to make a planned gift and more than 33% of Americans are willing to consider a charitable bequest. Yet among those over the age of 30, only 22% say they have been asked for a planned gift.
