Chapter 2.1 - The Electoral College, and President Trump’s Attempt to Subvert It (The January 6th Report)
The January 6th Report: A reading of Chapter 2.1 - The Electoral College, and President Trump’s Attempt to Subvert It
President Trump and his advisors tried different ways to change the outcome of the election in different states. They pressured local and State elections officials to stop counting votes once it became clear that former Vice President Joseph Biden would prevail in the final count. They pressured Governors, secretaries of State, and local officials not to certify the popular vote in several swing States that Biden had won. When that didn't work, they pressured State legislators to disregard the vote counts and appoint Trump electors to vote in the electoral college.
