In The Mood For Love (2000) review / dir. Kar-Wai Wong
The gang discovers their spouses are cheating this week, as they review BBC's 2nd best film of the century, In the Mood for Love. Written and directed by visionary director, Kar-Wai Wong, off the heels of Chungking Express, this period melodrama with tones of noir and an overarching will-they-won't-they vibe, explores the newly formed friendship of two neighbors who must come to grips with the fact that their spouses are cheating while on the road for work. After making a pact that it will not venture into the romantic, the two friends find comfort in each others company, and help each other overcome the societal isolation that comes with being in a failed marriage that is impossible to leave.
Streaming right now on HBO Max and The Criterion Channel, this one is well worth your time.
