Each week we challenge one another to engage The Word Of God in a practical way. Will you join us? And be a doer of The Word!
This Weeks Challenge:
This week set aside a special place to intentionally and consistently meet with God alone.
Remember: When you draw near to God He promises to draw near to you. (James 4:8)
Devotion:
Exodus 25-27; Psalm 27:4
In Exodus 25-27, we see God giving precise instructions for the building of the tabernacle, a place for His presence to dwell among His people. From the intricate details of the Ark of the Covenant to the gold overlaid on the furnishings, we see God's desire for beauty and order in the way we approach Him.
David, in Psalm 27:4 proclaims, "One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple."
As we reflect on these passages, we are reminded of the importance of setting aside a special place to meet with God. It is easy to let our relationship with Him become casual and lacking reverence for His holy and perfect nature.
Like Jesus, who regularly took time to get away from others and distractions to meet with the Father in prayer, let us intentionally move out of our routine to draw closer to God. As we approach Him in worship, let us remember that He cares about how we come to Him, and that He is a God of order and detail. Yet, despite His standards, He is loving, welcoming and desirous of spending time with us. Let us embrace the beauty of God and the beauty of the place where we meet Him, as we seek to dwell in His presence all our days.
