Episode 0223 - There's NO FREE LUNCH, not Even with a GREEN NEW DEAL!
Everyone knows that there's no such thing as a FREE LUNCH, and yet politicians and the corporate media are convinced that a complex, multi-faceted society like the US with an even more complex energy infrastructure can be run in the future with windmills, solar panels, and batteries. This is an absurd fool's errand, but in a fiat money economy where the printing press prints dollars, these kinds of ideas can persist for very long periods of time impoverishing unsuspecting citizens in the pursuit of magical thinking. Join me today as we discuss this topic behind the backdrop of one of John Stossels brilliant videos on The Green New Deal.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal proposes to save the planet. It calls for the United States to reduce carbon emissions to zero in 10 years. James Meigs, former editor of Popular Mechanics, tells me “That's a goal you could only imagine possible if you have no idea how the energy economy works or how energy is produced in this country.”
