New episode alert! This week Gavin and I are tackling one of our all-time favorite comedies, which just happens to be a martial arts movie as well! Part Kung Fu, part Blaxploitation, and all-around hilarious, prepare yourself for an uproariously good time with Black Dynamite! Written by and starring the one and only Michael Jai White, this modern day take on the Blaxploitation genre entertains from start to finish. It’s got everything you could possibly want in an action comedy. Heinous Kung Fu masterminds? Check! Lots of lovely ladies vying for Black Dynamite? Check! Absolutely brilliant, but absurd, facetious scenarios throughout? Double check! Listen in as we break down this homage to a bygone era of filmmaking, what makes this picture work when others from its time failed, and why you should IMMEDIATELY go check it out if you haven’t seen it already (its currently available on Prime). Be warned, this film is definitely R-RATED! With lots of obscenities, scenes of sexuality, and graphic violence, this one is definitely not for the whole family. Also, we uncharacteristically use some profanity throughout this episode as we quote directly from the film, so we do apologize in advance! You can listen to The Martial Arts Mania Podcast on Soundcloud, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and iHeart Podcasts! Don’t forget to subscribe, download, like, and share with your friends!
