The Purim Story 2023

The Purim story reminds us that everything, even events beyond our control, ultimately happens with Hashem's will. As we learn from the Vilna Gaon, it was no coincidence that Achashverosh and his kingdom uprooted themselves to settle in Shushan - the same small town where a pious Jew named Mordechai lived. This was part of Hashem's plan to save the Jewish people from Haman's genocidal plot. This reminder is especially poignant as we approach Purim. We may not always understand what is happening in our lives or how one event seemingly unrelated to another could come together for a greater purpose - yet this is precisely the point of Purim: to recognize and trust in Hashem and to understand that God alone is orchestrating our lives.
