Episode 133: Singin’ in the Rain (1952)

This week at The Film Club we’re kicking off Musical March with one of the greatest musicals of all time, Singin’ in the Rain. The film tells the story of silent film actor Don Lockwood who is at the top of his game but his world is about to change because talkies are on the horizon. Don can sing and dance but his “romantic “ counterpart Lina Lamont who he’s been paired with for many films can’t act, sing, and dance. Don and the studio fear that they won’t survive the talkies because of Lina but things are about to change when a new actress named Kathy Selden enters the picture. Can Don, Kathy, and Don’s best friend Cosmo save not only the picture but the studio? Or will the talkies be too much to weather? Join us as we dive into the world of Singin’ in the Rain.
