43. No Lions Here with Scott Camp LSW, CSAT-Candidate
In this episode I am joined by Scott Camp who is a lead therapist at Begin Again Institute and CSAT-Candidate. Scott I met when I returned to BAI in August 2022 for a follow up 5 day trauma intensive. Scott shares his journey of his own recovery which includes taking time away from school to work on himself and find his own healing journey, which led him back to school and into the field of helping those with sexual addiction. It is important for anyone in recovery to take the time to dig in. Recovery can be very selfish, which I have found is a fine line between balance and self-righteousness, so it can be hard to not take the term selfish too literal. As an addict I want everything all the time to be about me, my addictions revolved around that, in recovery it's also about me AND what I can do to be of service to those around me. Sometimes in my recovery it's just as important for me to be there for someone else as it is to get my own needs met, and again it's about finding that balance. Recovery is hard yet simple, which is a term that shouldn't make any sense at all however it's very true. What we deal with on a daily basis in recovery for sexual addiction is hard and applying tools can also be hard, yet when we do we realize how simple it really is. I really appreciate Scott's willingness to come on the show and I hope that everyone enjoys the conversation as much as I enjoyed being a part of it. Thank you so much for joining me on my journey!
