In honor of the Maximum Fun Drive we gathered the minds to have a Minority Korner Town Hall on Race. We discuss what led to this current wave of Civil Unrest and Civil Rights. We have a lively discussion on what are the possibilities, in imagining what a new world of equity will look like. Why does systemic oppression continue to happen? What does ‘Defund the Polic’e really mean? How does Black Trans Lives Matter fit into the movement, and why is it so important to start there? Why it’s time to turn Kanye West off. Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable to do the work and have the conversations. How can tech help the cause? Our history as Black people overcoming adversity and the odds. How to break out of this system that is not only racist, but misogynistic, homophibic, and all the “obia’s” and bigotry, and the unlearning that is necessary to dismantle and break free of these systems of oppression. What it means to be anti-racist, and what we are looking for in allyship, and within the Black community to move the movement of Black Lives Matter, and equity forward. Also recommendations of media to keep the education, empowerment, and learning going.
