“She’s harmless… She’s as harmless as one of those stuffed birds.”
This week on The Blind Rage Podcast, Tony and I sit down to watch Gus Van Sant’s 1998 remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s immortal classic PSYCHO, a film which tanked at the box office and was ripped to shreds by critics. Of course, I’ve long ago pledged my allegiance to the original. I’m not mental. Or…a psycho… But I would call this one tolerable. Wouldn’t say I have a soft spot for it, but it’s tolerable, primarily thanks to Joseph Stefano’s original script, which was only minorly tweaked, and the performances by the stellar cast. Excluding Vince Vaughn, whose bastardization of the Norman Bates character should’ve gotten him blacklisted from Hollywood.
