Kennedy rode in the backseat of a dark blue convertible through the streets of Dallas, Texas, where up to 200,000 people stood on sidewalks to get their glimpse of the President. The route was public knowledge, pre-planned to get as big of an audience as possible. The President would be running for reelection soon, and he wanted to ensure he had the Texas vote. Then, at 12:30 p.m., three shots rang out.
