In this episode I am joined by Fish. Fish is an alumni of BAI and reached out and wanted to share his first step on the show, and share his views on recovery. Our first step, in any program, highlights the experience that we have had with our addictions and it is important to also share strength and hope. If we stop with our first step we will never find the solution and the problem with continue. Everyone's first step is different, when it came down to writing mine I got really hung up on it being this long perfectly written story starting with childhood and working my way to present day. For me this was very overwhelming, so I kept it on the back burner. When I talked about this with my sponsor he told me that my first step could be bullet points of things that I had done that stressed the powerlessness over the addiction. Part of my first step was also believing that I am powerless over sexual addiction, and that my life truly had become unmanageable. However you decide to write or present your first step is totally up to you, and the nice thing about the 12 steps is you can work them as many times as you want, and that is encouraged, you may miss things the first time around and that is OK. Big thanks to Fish for his willingness to come on and his vulnerability in his share. I hope everyone enjoys the conversation, and thank you for joining me on my journey!
Keep coming back, it works if yo work it, and you are worth it!
