Ketones & The Aging Brain - Proj John Newman Ep5
In this episode Dr Newman talks about ketones as a fuel for the brain and how this becomes more important as we age and the brain can become less able to use glucose.
Dr John Newman is a professor at the Buck Institute and at University of California, San Francisco. He hopes to translate what we are learning of the pathways that control aging into therapies to improve the health and independence of older adults. His research at the Buck studies the molecular details of how diet regulate the pathways that control aging, with a focus on ketone bodies.
