YDS: How Do Flow Metrics in the Sprint Review Work?
Todd, Prateek, and Ryan discuss using flow metrics in the Sprint Review. The four flow metrics, throughput, cycle time, item work age, and whip limits, are defined at the beginning of the video. The Sprint Review is a collaborative discussion about the product, and stakeholders such as customers, users, buyers, and internal executives are present to assess the value and give feedback. The conversation focuses on how to maximize value and what to do next. Throughput is the primary flow metric in the Sprint Review event. The stakeholders use probabilistic forecasting to assess the risk and make decisions based on the forecast, discussing which items can be dropped or switched around. The discussion aims to manage stakeholders' expectations and level set their expectations. Finally, the video stresses the importance of continuous flow metric assessment and sharing of new and greater risks.
