#36: Councilmember Dr. Jared Williams of the City of Fort Worth
On June 5th of 2021, Dr. Williams was elected to represent District 6 of the City of Fort Worth, which is the community that raised him. He is the first African American Councilmember to represent District 6 and one of the youngest Councilmembers ever in the history of Fort Worth. Currently he is serving his first term and represents over 108,000 residents in far south and southwest Fort Worth where he works intimately alongside communities to ensure opportunities reach more families across the District, City, and State. Dr. Williams brings a people first approach to leadership, a proven equity lens when making decisions, and a deep passion for serving his community. He believes in leading by using collective values and hopes and prioritizes resident’s voices and being an approachable leader. Additionally, he earned a doctorate in environmental science and science education and studied sustainable urban infrastructure and development at the University of North Texas.
