Moment of Meditation: Same Words (Genesis 11:1)
Now the whole earth had one language and the same words. Genesis 11:1
Not only are their fifty major languages spoken. There are multiple dialects in each of these languages. Just think of the difference between speakers in Illinois, Wisconsin, Boston, Tennessee, and California. We may all be speaking English, but we use words in different ways.
If only we would have “the same words” to spread the Gospel! Even among Christians with “the same words,” there is a difference in what they mean. Even the core words like salvation, faith, and grace have different meanings depending on which denomination is using them.
As we seek to spread the Gospel in every language, we need to use “the same words” with the same meanings. We need to base those meanings in what God says in His holy Word. Only then can we begin to see the unity that God desires of all His children. Amen.
