Welcome to Episode 1344, in which Cynthia Chaplin interviews Cristina Ziliani of Franciacorta’s Guido Berlucchi & CSpA in Borgonato in this installment of Voices, on the Italian Wine Podcast.
About today’s guest:
Cristina Ziliani is Chief Executive Officer of Guido Berlucchi & CSpA in Borgonato, in Franciacorta, and is dedicated to Corporate Relations.
Eldest daughter of Franco Ziliani, the pioneer who created the first bottle of Franciacorta in 1961, Cristina joined the family business in 1981, with a training placement in the administrative department. Ten years later you oversaw the opening of the Communication and Marketing department, which you still lead today. In 2007 you were awarded the title of Cavaliere della Repubblica Italiana and in 2015, on the occasion of Expo, you decided to undertake the wine tourism activity project, thus structuring the Hospitality department, which today welcomes over 21,000 visitors a year. In 2019 you created the Academia Berlucchi project, a virtuous circle of knowledge and you are the spokesperson for the company's commitment on sustainability issues.
Together with his brothers, Arturo and Paolo, he led the company into the new millennium and strengthened a brand now recognized throughout the world as a synonym of Franciacorta and quality wine. In 2021 it celebrated the sixtieth anniversary of the first bottle of Franciacorta under the aegis of important Italian and international awards, such as the "Winery of the Year 2022" award awarded by Gambero Rosso and the "TOP 100 Italian Wines 2021" ranking by Wine Spectators.
