The Ottawa Senators' season officially ends with a 4-3 overtime loss in Buffalo. But it was a great night for former Senator Craig Anderson who wins his final game in the league and gets a nice send-off from his old team. The Sens have their final media availability Friday morning. As expected, Nick Holden is informed he will not be re-signed by the club. Alex DeBrincat will get a qualifying offer and beyond that, says he's open to anything. The Cat did sound like Ottawa was a difficult adjustment on and off the ice, which didn't exactly fill anyone with optimism about a long-term deal. Travis Hamonic looks like he's a good bet to return and credits Holden for helping rookie Jake Sanderson figure out life as a pro this season. Pierre Dorion reportedly tells staff members that he'll be back next season. But DJ Smith says he was in the same meeting and that's not what Dorion said. There are firings across the NHL today among GMs and head coaches who were hired well after Dorion and Smith were. But Gregg and Steve think both men will get one last chance next season.
