The 4th Official Football Chats

Full Episode: Martin Cassidy, CEO of Refs Support UK
Gary Morris is joined by Martin Cassidy, CEO of Ref Support UK to discuss recent controversies involving match officials in Scotland and in the Premier League.
They speak about the contentious decisions of Kevin Clancy at the weekend, and whether or not Scottish refs would benefit from going professional to improve their level of performance.
Martin also speaks about the recent trend of match official confrontational behaviour - with the Mitrovic, Robertson and Fernandes incidents, and whether or not officials should have open mics as they do in rugby, or at least a platform to explain their decisions.
Finally, Martin also discusses accountability for the press and pundits, and whether or not programmes such as Sky Sports' Ref Watch actually hinder refereeing standards rather than aid them.
A very interesting and frank discussion, and we'd love to hear your thoughts. Martin has offered to come back onto T4O later in the year to follow up on this show. You can follow Refs Support UK on Twitter here.
