Black Men & Mental Health - 'Therapy-ish (ft. D. McKinnie)
In this week’s episode of ‘Therapy-ish, we sit down with D. McKinnie, a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing out of Arlington, TX, who specializes in working with children and adults who struggle with mood disorders and building coping skills. This episode is all about the the state of mental health for Black men in America today. Asha and D. talk everything from where Black men can find safe spaces in which to be vulnerable, why vulnerability can be looked down upon within the community, and how to find healthy outlets to practice self-care. Therapy-ish was created with the mindset of removing the stigma around mental health and to help bridge the gap from the streets to the office. Our goal is to educate listeners on new ways to go about seeking help, becoming more aware of where we are, discuss therapy in traditional and non-traditional ways with expressing new ways to move forward in the world.
