I Dig Crazy Flicks Presents: Ninety For Chill - The Podcast with CatBusRuss
TV & Film:Film Reviews
CatBusRuss tries to piece together a podcast for the kids of the eighties and the jaded millennials/gen z'rs who hate what the Reagan Era. Space Opera was a genre that dominated the early to mid 1980s as a response to "Star Wars". After "Ghostbusters" showed audiences that spectacle need not take place in outer space, the genre seemingly dropped off. With that said, could Steven Spielberg handle the total freedom that the stars offer? Can you think of a Spielberg feature that takes place in Space? Regardless, these are the films that CatBus and his big sister, ThePoeticCritic, grew up on. Russ is far fonder of the genre with pictures like "The Ice Pirates", "Flash Gordon", and "Space Truckers" while his eldest sibling was doing her best to find musicals that may soon be lost to time.
The Stevens siblings of Morton, Illinois also grew up on the original Disney Channel and the bootleg tapes their youngest uncle would throw in the VHS player to amuse his nieces and nephews. Every family member in Buffalo, New York seemed to be obsessed with Disney's animated features. Needless to say, our podcast siblings were quite knowledgeable of these features and were huge fans until "Toy Story". Pixar seems to consistently make the better movies, so they should be more valuable. This leads to ThePoeticCritic taking offense to Disney's Premier Access practice during the COVID lockdown. Why are we asked to pay $30 for live-action adaptation of a lesser animated feature when we know "Soul" is where we should spend our money?
Cash rules everything around us. This leads Russ to think about where we could use the abundance of cash that streamers are taking in. If we cannot have full-blown communism, than why not Netflix sponsored national healthcare? Needless to say, the politics is why we are not mention ThePoeticCritic in the episode title.
