“If you want to go up in the company, you have to stop fraternizing with people in the mail room.”
In this episode, Yuridia Peña, a Dominican woman from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, talks about her young dreams of working on 5th Avenue and becoming the next Anna Wintour to her first time experiencing class division in Corporate America. Because of her experience, she pivoted and dedicated her career to serving her community. Yuridia went on to work for the NYC labor movement, coordinated demonstrations during the Fight for $15 campaign, promoted legislation to end stop-and-frisk and the list goes on. She also founded Alta Consulting, a boutique public affairs firm helping customers achieve their public relations and communications goals.
