Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another's speech. Genesis 11:7
To remove the unity among the tower builders, God came down and confused their language. Making everyone think that his neighbor was babbling. Everyone wandered around, trying to find someone they understood.
Have you ever been somewhere that you didn’t understand the language? Maybe you took Spanish in high school, but being among native Spanish speakers all day makes you crave finding someone who speaks English.
God confused the languages, but it was not a final judgment upon the people. It was for them to fulfill His commandment to fill the earth. To further show this, God brought together people from all over the world for the Feast of Pentecost in Acts 2. Everyone heard the Apostles preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their own native language. Babel was reversed that day so that the Gospel could spread to all the world. Amen.
